"Fear Not. Stand yourself firm so that you may see The redemption God will do for you today."
Exodus 14:13

In one of the most climactic moments of the Jewish story, the Israelites are being pursued by the Egyptian Army's charioteers to their rear, the Sea of Reeds is welling up before them. They are in terror and rage at Moses for bringing them out of Egypt. "It would have been better for us to serve Egypt, than to die in the wilderness!" Moses' response is the subject of this painting.

This verse is a comfort, and can also be used as a general meditation.
