This shiviti is a meditation device. It helps the viewer focus his/her thoughts to deeper probe the profundity of being. This central prayer can be broken down into many sub sentences, while the over-arching message is that God is unique. The structure of the lettering helps the viewer find the many messages imbedded in the verse. The combining of the letters aleph and lamed here is an interesting device used by medieval scribes to save space. The sacred name of God is depicted as three yuds.
