Ketubahs / Decorative Frames
Me'irah can be commissioned to paint original designs for ketubot, or you might wish to order one of the following giclee art prints . They can also be used to "frame" any other text of your choice. For example, a portion of a haftorah, the El Malei Rachamim prayer with specific names inserted.
These frame designs can be ordered blank, available for your own scribe, or you can write the text and it can be printed within the frame.
I do not carry standard, written out ketubah texts. These designs are for people who wish to write their own ketubah text.
Ordering six months before your wedding is strongly advised, in order to be sure your ketubah will arrive in time!

Giclee art prints of the designs shown here, approximately 20" high.
This frame encloses the text in a braid symbolizing the interweaving of lives together. In the corners, the grapevines form hearts, symbolizing joy and abundance.
This frame depicts the lushness of a tropical rainforest.
This Frame traces a pomegranate branch and a grapevine throughout the four seasons within the windows of a middle-eastern style lattice. The whole is in the form of tallit, a Jewish prayer shawl.
This frame uses imagery from Shir Hashirim, the Song of Songs: gazelles, a dove, a fox, grapes, pomegranates, lilies. The setting for the Song of Songs is thought to be the Garden of Eden.
Two trees, intertwined.
The imagery in this ketubah highlights the coming together through the seasons of the year, and the seasons of our lives. Starting out separately, the roots grow together, new leaves are born in the spring, and fall in the autumn. Sometimes there is light, and sometimes darkness. The blank space for the text forms a heart.
Giclee Printing & Hand Gilding
The giclee (pronounced zshee clay') process is a high density scan of original artwork, printed with high quality, archival inks on textured archival thick watercolor paper. The parts painted in gold consequently look like a picture of painted gold.
The giclee print looks very nice on its own, but the gold can also be hand painted on your print, bringing it very close to the original. The gilding fee is $250 and requires additional time for processing your order.
These giclee fine art prints are reproductions of gouache paintings.
Ordering a Ketubah With Your Own Custom Text
1. You write out your personal text, preferably with the help of your rabbi.
2. You have it translated into Hebrew, if you wish.
3. You are responsible for proofreading it, and making sure it is exactly the way you wish it to appear on your ketubah.
4. You email me (meirah [at] earthlink.net) including your name and phone number in the email, and specify your design choice.
5. We talk, and then, you email me the text.
6. I have the text printed onto one of the giclee fine art prints shown here.
7. If you want the gold hand-painted onto your giclee art print (which makes it very beautiful, and closer to the original) add $250 to the price.
8. I mail the ketubah to you in time for the wedding in a nice presentation case.
Note: your text will not be hand calligraphed, but printed by a printer. The English is a nice Italic font, and the Hebrew is a "stam" font.
